Spring Planting for the Mind
Springtime is here. The month of April is the time where planting begins in the Midwest and other colder states. My question to you is what are you planting in your mind? Here are a few tips about planting nourishing thoughts in your mind that will produce a favorable harvest!
P-Plan your day out. Get an idea of how you would like your day to go. But I recommend a backup plan for certain things (bigger events) so you aren’t completely surprised if things go haywire and it will help your day go smoother. Plan what type of positive thoughts you will think and what positive responses you will have, and plan the appropriate behavior on how you will react to certain situations. Basically, prepare yourself for the busy day that lies ahead of you. A farmer has to plan his day out strategically because he has to get along with Mother Nature. If the farmer procrastinates in the morning, the rain may come in the afternoon and evening and he cannot resume his activities.
L- Leave the past in the past. Try not to bring up old issues if they have been resolved. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone can change. Allow yourself to forgive and move on. Don’t dwell on the past. Once you have let go of the negative thinking or bad experiences from the past you can allow room in your mind to think better thoughts, which leads us to the next part.
A- Affirmations are the best when it comes to renewing your mind and encouraging yourself. Write down at least 2 affirmations in each area of your life that you would like to see improvement. It’s best to begin your affirmations with either an “I am” statement or an “I (verb) statement. (Not “I am trying or I will”) You want to convince your subconscious mind that it’s already happening. Your subconscious mind does not know the difference between reality and imagined so imagine and speak the best! Speak them aloud every day and believe yourself. Record them on your smartphone and listen to them on your commute. Hear yourself saying these positive affirmations.
N- Never allow a Negative thought to linger long in your mind. Do not give that vision or thought a chance to grow, do not give it a voice, do not voice it aloud. Your subconscious mind does not know the difference between negative and positive thoughts. So if you allow yourself to worry about not being able to pay your bills on time or imagine the worst outcome for your health, your subconscious mind will work hard on whatever is occupying the space to make it come true.
T- Be Thankful for what you have, be content. Have an attitude of gratitude! Just look around you and starting thanking God for your health, the beautiful weather, your home, your delicious meal you are about to consume, for your safety and general well being. I just recently heard a statistic that states our level of happiness/content only changes about 10% due to life changes. WOW! That was a revelation and message for me! If you are single, waiting to get married, marriage will only make you 10% happier. (So does that mean if I get married, make more money, and buy a new house and boat that it’s accumulative and I will be 40% happier??? LOL!) I might have to research that, do a study on myself, and get back with you on the results! Finding a new job, earning more money, having more toys, will only make you 10% happier. Your state of happiness is up to you and your own attitude and finding your peace and joy through God!
